Using a Thermos to Carry Beverage Is Not Always a Great Idea
We all know that using a thermos to keep drink hot or cold is great for many of us who want to enjoy a warm beverage even in cold winter mornings. But what many people fail to realize is that not all drinks or beverages can be safely kept inside a thermos.

Firstly, thermos containers which are made out of metal and have an inner vacuum chamber are very good at storing hot liquids, but they are not suitable for storing acids such as vinegar, citrus juices or even alcohol. Since the inner vacuum has a chemical reaction when these substances come into contact, the inner lining of the thermos can be corroded or damaged, leading to a bad taste of the beverage.

In addition, never fill your thermos with fizzy beverages. This is because when you close the lid, the carbon dioxide inside the bottle gets trapped and will keep increasing in pressure when the temperature rises, which means that you can end up with a messy explosion once you open the bottle.

Finally, avoid pouring too hot drinks into your thermos to prevent the interior lining from being damaged. Since the thermos is made of a thin metal lining, the sudden temperature change of a hot drink can cause to the thermos to crack. If you must pour hot drinks into your thermos, make sure to let it cool down first.

To sum up, while thermos are a great way to keep beverage at the optimum temperature, they should not be used to store beverages that contain acids and never with fizzy drinks or overly hot liquid.
