Can I put hot water in glass bottle?

1. That depends. 

Usually there are 2 kinds glass bottles in daily life for water, high borosilicate glass and soda-lime glass. You might experienced that the glass cracked after put hot water in. It should be soda-lime glass. It is OK to put hot water in high borosilicate glass bottle or freeze high borosilicate glass water bottle. It won't crack.

2. Advantages of borosilicate glass comparing to soda-lime glass.

Differences of borosilicate glass and soda-lime glass lies in components, there are more boron trioxide and silicon dioxide in borosilicate glass. 

Borosilicate glass has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. So it is able to stand 200°C temperature shift (80°C for soda-slim glass). 

And borosilicate glass looks more bright and transparent. 

From safe consideration, both of them are lead free, non-toxic, but borosilicate glass is healthier. No worry of any bad chemicals comes out when you sterilize borosilicate glass water bottle in boiling water. Sure borosilicate glass is much higher than soda-lime glass from cost.

In brief, you can put hot water in high borosilicate glass water bottle, but notice not get burnt. You can put it in freezer.
